About the Director of LCLLC:
Ms. Leckner teaches courses in emergency management, environmental sciences and geography as an Assistant Professor with the American Military University. She is presently a Co-Chair for the Tropical Islands/Latin America Committee for the National Hurricane Conference, and is a member of the National Hydrologic Warning Council Executive Board. As a former employee of the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, Ms. Leckner chaired the NJ Special Needs Advisory Panel, produced New Jersey�s weather�related hazard plans, evacuation plans and operational procedures, developed and delivered public outreach and professional training, coordinated planning meetings and exercises, chaired numerous committees, served as liaison to Federal agencies, performed duties as an operations officer for emergency events, supervised emergency operations center staff, produced Unit�s reports, and managed Federal grants. Ms Leckner served in the operations center as Operations Chief and Operations Officer for weather events, and other emergencies to include the events of 9/11, the anthrax emergency, and regularly scheduled nuclear drills.
Mariana Leckner has a Bachelors degree in International Relations, a minor in Latin American Studies, and a Masters degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Virginia. Ms. Leckner earned her doctorate in Geography at Rutgers University, focusing on coastal evacuations in New Jersey.
